Remembering the cup
A month back, give or take a week or two, I got a glass latte cup for my to-go caf consumption. My track record of remembering to take it with me isn't perfect, and I wonder if the soap and water use to clean it out makes that much of a positive impact when compared to a diposable paper cup. I know that we are told that it does: by the cup makers.
It leaves me wishing that there wasn't this giant faction in politics which was hell bent on ignoring environmental issues. Who have the foresight of mayflies when it comes to...well when it comes to anything.
Wouldn't it be great if there were great big neutral institutions that were well funded and who based their judgements on the soundest science availible. Who made it easier to make stupid choices like whether to bring the disposable cup or not. Who help move along debates about things like renewable energy and public transportation without being brought low by those who were just trying to make a quick buck at the expense of everything else?
Yeah. That would be nice. I wonder which parallel has that going on.
